About Clausey

Software ate every department.
Then it skipped the documents.

We're building the system of record that actually reads — so the contracts, records, and policies running your organization stop being a blind spot.

Every answer cited to the exact clause

Clausey started with a 2 a.m. spreadsheet. A compliance officer, four thousand rows, and a deadline that didn't care that every row meant opening a PDF, finding a date, and typing it somewhere a regulator might one day check.

We'd spent our careers watching software transform every function it touched — sales got CRMs that think, engineering got copilots that code. But the documents that actually bind an organization — its contracts, its records, its policies — were still filed, not understood. The industry's answer was the CLM: a filing cabinet with a search bar, sold as transformation.

Then language models learned to read. Not skim — read: parse a termination clause, reconcile it against a policy, notice the DPA that was promised in Exhibit B and never signed. For the first time, the knowledge locked in documents could become something software can query, monitor, and act on.

So we built Clausey the way this category should have been built all along: AI-native from the first line. Not a CLM with a chatbot bolted on — a knowledge base where every document is read on arrival, every answer carries its citation, and every deadline is watched by something that never sleeps through a renewal window.

The 2 a.m. spreadsheet is gone. The officer gets a ranked queue at 9 a.m. That's the product: certainty, with receipts.

Founders

Built by people who lived the problem.

Larry Galan
Larry Galan
Co-founder
Previously: strategic finance, trading & consulting

Larry spent more than a decade in finance and operations — trading crude oil, advising companies through messy transitions, helping build a fintech platform — and kept hitting the same wall: the "system of record" was a spreadsheet someone updated by hand, and the answers that mattered were buried in contracts nobody had time to read. Tired of the midnight audits, he taught himself to build, and made the tool he wished he'd had. He still writes the code, runs the demos, and reads every support email himself.

Co-founder
Previously: enterprise AI & data systems

Austin spent over a decade in enterprise AI — building systems on compliance-critical data, with a law degree picked up along the way — so he knows, in detail, what he's talking about. At Clausey he's the one across the table from customers: listening for the real problem behind the request, and making sure the product earns their trust long before it earns a signature.

How we build

Four principles, non-negotiable.

01 / GROUNDED

No citation, no claim

Every answer links to the exact passage it came from, highlighted in the source. If Clausey can't cite it, Clausey doesn't say it.

02 / NATIVE

AI-native, not AI-added

Reading is the foundation, not a feature. Every document is parsed, typed, and indexed the moment it lands — the chatbot isn't bolted on; the whole system thinks.

03 / QUIET

Software that watches

The best compliance tool is the one that interrupts you before the deadline, not the dashboard you remember to check after it.

04 / CRAFT

Enterprise-grade, pixel-grade

Tools people live in eight hours a day deserve the polish of the products they love. We sweat the 6px corner radius.

The road

Where we've been, where we're going.

The 2 a.m. spreadsheet

Clausey is sketched during a compliance audit that software should have done. First prototype reads a lease and answers one question — with the clause cited.

The Vault ships

Ingestion, typed fields, and Ask Clausey go live with design partners in legal and higher education.

Workflows & policies

Nightly monitoring, renewal radar, and approval gates — Clausey stops being a search box and starts being a colleague.

Today

Millions of clauses read across legal, procurement, finance, and higher-ed teams. The CLM replacement thesis, proven weekly.
